Shannon Toalson, LCP
Clinical Level Therapist & Assessment Administrator | Independent Contractor (In-Person Community & Virtual Sessions)

Shannon Toalson is a Licensed Clinical Psychotherapist who specializes in psychological assessments. Through Midwest Anxiety, she offers in-person, community based assessment services in Johnson and Douglas county with flexible weekend availability.

Shannon believes assessments are most valuable when they provide meaningful insight, not just a diagnosis. Her approach involves careful administration of evidence-based assessment tools with thoughtful interpretations that consider each client's unique experiences, strengths and challenges. Her goal is to help clients better understand themselves and identify practical, accessible recommendations that can improve quality of life.

She is particularly passionate about helping clients make sense of experiences that may have felt confusing, frustrating or invalidating. By providing clear, empowering information she hopes to help clients find relief, self-understanding and a clearer path towards their goals. Clients can expect a thorough and collaborative assessment process grounded in both professionalism and genuine connection. Shannon strives to make scheduling, testing and feedback discussions approachable and accessible, helping clients understand how assessment results apply to their everyday lives.

Shannon is certified to assess for ADHD and learning disabilities in both children and adults. Her clinical experience treating borderline personality disorder, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, OCD, and ADHD informs the recommendations she provides to best support clients. Shannon is committed to providing affirming, inclusive care and is passionate about supporting clients from diverse backgrounds, including members of the LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent communities. She provides psychosocial readiness assessments and documentation for gender-affirming medical and surgical care, helping clients navigate access to treatment and supportive resources with respect, compassion, and clinical expertise.

Shannon has found immense value in developing a deeper understanding of herself and believes that greater self-awareness can be a powerful catalyst for growth. She aims to empower others with the knowledge, insight, and resources needed to create lives filled with joy and meaningful connection. She finds growth, purpose, and connection through shared human experiences and self-reflection arising from both life's celebrations and its challenges.
