Midwest Anxiety is a community based program for children, teens, and adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, and more generalized problems involving negative thoughts, feelings, or behaviors. Unlike traditional office-based psychotherapy, we work with people in “real life” situations in their natural environments (home, school, sporting events, etc). Instead of coming to us in a stuffy office, we come visit you in your world. We believe this “hands on” approach gives us the best opportunity to see your strengths and help you overcome your struggles in the environments that you live. Our mobility also allows us to work with people in "real time." No "see you in a couple weeks" for your next appointment. We work in the moments (daily if needed) and in the environments of your struggles. Understanding in real time, in your natural environments, helps us implement step-by-step Cognitive Behavioral strategies to modify negative patterns as they arise.
Is that different enough for ya? Here's a little bit more differentness. We believe Everyone Struggles. Some of us struggle more than others, but everyone struggles with something. We are passionate about normalizing mental health by focusing on mental wellness, rather than mental illness. It is not us vs. the "mentally ill." It is all of us. Like physical health, we all have mental health. Our goal is to help you learn Cognitive Behavioral skills, inspire you to Just Be You, all while changing the way we talk and do mental health. Ever heard "you are what you eat?" What about " you reap what you sow?" One last one...."you believe what you think?" Well....our shirts are all about the message. We don't have some graphic designer sitting in an art studio loft coming up with the designs. Why? Because we believe the message on the Tee is way more important than the design. Trust us.
