Guess what?
It’s completely normal to feel a lot of different emotions in one day—happy, sad, excited, annoyed, nervous, disappointed, or even really frustrated. Feelings can change quickly depending on what’s happening at school, at home, with friends, or even just inside your own mind.
The problem isn’t having feelings. Feelings are part of being human.
The tricky part is knowing what to do with those feelings—especially when they get really big. Sometimes emotions can take over before we even realize what’s happening. One minute everything is fine, and the next minute we’re yelling, shutting down, melting down, or feeling totally overwhelmed.
And sometimes… we just don’t feel like trying to handle them at all.
That’s where Big Emotions comes in!
In this group, kids will learn about the Zones of Regulation, a simple and fun way to understand what’s happening inside their bodies and minds when emotions start to rise. Kids will learn how to recognize when they are calm, when they are getting frustrated, when emotions are getting big, and what they can do to get themselves back in control.
Through games, activities, and discussion, participants will practice skills that help them:
Recognize when their emotions are starting to grow
Understand what their body is telling them
Use tools to calm down and refocus
Handle frustration, anger, and disappointment in healthier ways
Feel more confident managing emotions at school, at home, and with friends
The goal isn’t to get rid of big feelings—because everyone has them. The goal is to help kids notice them earlier and learn how to manage them before they turn into a giant, stomping, fire-breathing EMOTION MONSTER.
Get ready to learn how to take charge of your emotions—without letting them get too BIG! 😄
