We will cover the basics of anxiety from a Cognitive Behavioral perspective. This will give you a better idea of the key areas to be looking for when your child is anxious. We will also discuss how to remain emotional and physically neutral, while being empathetic to your child. We will also discuss parenting strategies to avoid when you child is anxious. You will walk away from this class with a "Parenting Plan" on how to manage your anxious child during anxious episodes.
This class is held Live Online. No need to get a baby sitter! You will join the class from the convenience of your computer. When you join the class online, you will see the presenter and the presenter's screen. We will discuss the basics of anxiety through your anxious child's eyes. You'll learn about the anxiety cycle that is your child is experiencing.
October 11, 2017, 7:00pm-8:00pm: How Your Child Works Through Anxiety
We will discuss Cognitive Behavioral skills that your child (not you) will use to work through his/her anxiety. You will learn how situations don't cause your child's anxiety. Rather, how your child thinks, feels, and acts toward situations cause your child to be confident or upset.
October 18, 2017, 7:00pm-8:00pm: The Do's and Dont's of Parenting an Anxious Child
There is a huge gray area in parenting. Now mix in having an anxious child. The struggle is real. What you might be doing as a "loving parent" conflicts with how you would parent your anxious child. We will clear up your parenting questions as we talk about the do's and dont's of parenting your anxious child.
October 25, 2017, 7:00pm-8:00pm: Time to Put Your "Parenting Plan" into Action
