Parents of teenagers who are “out of control.”


We've made it easy for you to join the class.  This class is held Live Online. No need to get a baby sitter!  You'll join the class from the convenience of your computer. When you join the class online, you'll see the instructor and the instructor's screen.  You will not be seen or heard, but you'll be able to engage in conversation and ask questions through the class chat platform.  So....put your comfortable clothes on, sit back, and enjoy.

October 9, 2018: Age appropriate expectations and boundaries

It is crucial to be able to learn and understand our kids abilities and with that appropriate expectations at home and school. Now that we have discussed how teens and tween’s brain develop, we will look into what can my child handle at this age? Many parents struggle with getting their child to follow through with chores and expectations at home. It is a common experience to feel powerless and defeated when your teen doesn’t finish their homework or put the dishes away like you asked for the umpteenth time! During this session we will discuss ways to help your teen learn and follow these expectations at home.

October 16, 2018: Social and expectations with friends

What is “okay” to say ‘yes’ to when your teen begs you to let them go here and there with their friends? Maybe they aren’t even asking and just leaving or sneaking out? It is a tough one that many parents struggle with. Especially in this day and age of technology and independence, finding the ‘right’ balance of freedom and structure is difficult, but not impossible! We will look at techniques you, as the parent; can navigate the complex world of teenage friendship and boundaries!

October 23, 2018: Techniques and tips to implement into the home

Okay, great you now have all this information and techniques for brain development and appropriate expectations, home expectations, and following the rules with friends. But, how do you put this to practice in every day life? We will discuss practical ways of implementing this into your home and family. We all have different routines and change can be difficult! This week we will practice real and do-able ways of weaving these learned techniques into your already busy life.
