SpeakUp! Teens

No Classes Available

For people who fear speaking in public, it is more than just shyness or occasional nerves. School presentations, ordering at restaurants, and talking with others often makes people with a fear of public speaking think that everyone is watching, staring, and judging them. The socially anxious person can't relax, "take it easy", let go, and enjoy themselves in public. In fact, they can never fully relax when other people are around. It always feels like others are evaluating them, being critical of them, or "judging" them in some way. Because the anxiety is so very painful, it's much easier just to stay away from social situations and avoid speaking with other people altogether.

Do you get nervous or self conscious when speaking to unfamiliar people or in public places such as school, shopping malls, or restaurants? Do people often ask you to "Speak Up"? If so, consider attending SpeakUp! Teens, a class for teens who want to become more confident in speaking in individual and group situations.

SpeakUp! Teens is a safe and supportive environment intended to help anxious teens appear more confident in individual and group situations.
